Pastor Olen Thompson, Truckers' Ministries, Inc.
Drivers, did you know that Pastor Olen Thompson of Truckers’ Ministries, Inc. is on-site at Freymiller on Wednesdays, meeting your needs? Of course, he is available to everyone and at other times by telephone 405-246-5602 and by email firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have a prayer request, there are forms and a request box in the Drivers’ Lounge, as well. Please read on to learn about Pastor Olen’s journey . . .
Olen enlisted in the United States Navy upon graduation from high school and received an honorable discharge in 1974. After discharge and various work experiences, he became a truck driver for 21 years for owner operators. With thoughts of becoming an owner operator, God called on Olen to drive for Him as a minister to truckers.
In 1996, Olen started Truckers’ Ministries, Inc. In December 1998, “Pastor” Olen received his Minister’s License and Ordination from Christian Solders Church and School and recognized by the National Chaplains Association.
Olen and his wife, Hattie, moved from Florida to Oklahoma City in 2003, at which time he set up Truckers’ Ministries, Inc. in a renovated semitrailer chapel at the Pilot Truck Stop at I-40 West and Morgan Road, where he continues to minister today. While getting Truckers’ Ministries up and running, Pastor Olen was a provisional Pastor and Associate Pastor in a number of churches.
Pastor Olen was licensed by the Free Methodist Church in June 2009, and ordained as an Elder Pastor in June 2010. He is a Conference Evangelist for the Mid-America Conference of the Free Methodist Church.
From Pastor Olen, “The Lord called me to minister His Word fulltime to the truck drivers of this great nation. I know how to relate . . . with my trucking background, I have the insight to understand their lifestyle and as a Chaplain. I want to lead truckers to Jesus and help them grow spiritually so they can carry the message of the good news over the highways of our great nation.”
We, at Freymiller, appreciate Pastor Olen and are grateful to have him on our team! If you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful man of God, don’t miss out . . . he’s quite a blessing!
